Whilst we have composted our vegetable and fruit waste in the past, it has not always been successful. There is waste from marmalade production which we want to dispose efficiently. We have therefore invested in a Green Johanna that is a system that composts at a higher temperature with air vents top and bottom and small holes on the base to allow the ingress of worms and other invertebrates. The higher temperatures mean that composting is quicker and more efficient enabling us to include food waste without attracting vermin. It also means that we can reduce the amount we put in our landfill and recycle bins even further. Whilst we always try an minimise food waste, we can’t use everything and feel that hot composting food taste is a great solution.
